Blue Bank Resort and Restaurant
Offering a stunning view of Reelfoot Lake, rustic and modern lodging, a marina, hot tub and pool, and a restaurant with some of the South’s finest cooking, Blue Bank Resort at 813 Lake Drive in Hornbeak, Tennessee has a history stretching back to the 1890s. Current owner Kathleen Hayes, along with sons Drew and Michael, are carrying on a long tradition that was kept alive for many years by husband/father Michael Hayes, who passed away in August 2023.
In the late 19th century, his great grandfather George owned a granary mill and gave guided tours of the lake. After he passed away, his daughter Kahoma used her inheritance in the early 1900s to purchase the Reelfoot Hotel. In the 1940s, her son Marvin invested in the establishment and had it remodeled. In 1956, he built the Blue Bank Motel and Restaurant. After he passed away in 1992, his son Michael Hayes bought the oldest registered boat dock in Tennessee as well as the Blue Bank Resort, and in 2010, Michael Hayes and family moved all operations to their present location.
The resort offers hunting and fishing packages and jon boat rentals. Accommodations offered include motel and cabin units. It offers camping and RV sites as well.
Blue Bank is family friendly, and even pets are welcome as long as they are on leashes.
The restaurant serves an eclectic menu of fresh fish—including Southern fried catfish, fresh seafood, steaks, grilled chicken and wings, pasta, burgers, and a world of appetizers. Restaurant-goers can enjoy the cozy indoor ambiance or view the lake while eating on the outside veranda.
The bar at Blue Bank offers a wide variety of beers, including many Tennessee craft beers as well as IPAs from across the country. Tennessee wines and other quality wines are on offer as are specialty liquors and cocktails. And of course, “regular” brands are available too.
