“In considering that, I’d say that ‘Intuition’ comes into play every day - and it applies to almost everything. We have very little hard data on anything in this emerging industry. It’s all about interviewing trusted folks and ‘intuiting’ the way to go on each decision that we face. That gets amplified even more given that we are farming. But it also applies to re-investing in the business in a whacko, completely uncertain legal environment. It’s about sensing the best path, hedging bets, and mitigating risk at each turn.”
At one point, David had to look for farm property in a different county and basically move his farm to a county where the county politics were more supportive.
David goes on:
“The “Horizons” become really important... because if I hadn’t looked up each year and said how do we make changes for next year, then we never would have grown.
