CHAPTER 2: WHAT IS INTUITION?
People view intuition in many different ways. As Jung said above is a reasonable definition.
Another non-contradictory way to define intuition comes from people who have studied it with modern scientific protocol and people who live it every day.
As part of my research, I trained as a HeartMath coach. “The HeartMath Institute,” Boulder Creek, CA has done a great deal of very interesting research around intuition (see Chapter 3 for more detail).
Here is how Dr. Rollin McCraty, their Director of Research, describes the benefit of intuition:
“A mysterious yet familiar facet of experience, intuition is a powerful transforming psychosocial agent that not only reshapes the direction of individual lives but also changes the course of human history.
“Intuitive perception is commonly acknowledged to play an important role in business, learning, creativity, medical diagnosis, healing spiritual growth and overall well-being (Myers, 2002).
“Yet despite its subtle presence in informing such diverse aspects of individual and collective life, intuition is poorly understood and remains a scientific enigma.”
