ing all the card slots in all the shelves
of a remote system to ind the available
slots and ports when I need them. What’s
the best way to keep track of them?
A : There is absolutely a better way.
Let’s start with inding the loops. In
overlay 22 you can print the CEQU (Common
Equipment). That shows you the loops used
for diferent purposes.
Next, you can ind available slots in the
superloops by printing the LUC (List
Unequipped Cardslots). You can also have
ports available on cards that are in use. For
those, you need to specify the kind of port
you need. For example, you can ind digital
set ports with LUVU (List Unequipped Voice
Units) and type 2000. For analog ports, use
LUU List Unequipped Units and type 500.
Now that you can ind open card slots and
ports, perhaps you would like to know the
particular cards that are plugged in. You
can get pretty good detail by performing an
inventory.
To inventory your system, use overlay 117.
This overlay works a little diferently from
the print overlays in that it does not give you
instructional prompts. All you get is an arrow
that looks like this: =>.
For a full inventory of the cabinets, use Inv
Generate All. You can restrict the inventory
to just cards with Inv Generate Cards or
inventory just the sets with Inv Generate Sets.
You may have noticed that the inventory
didn’t print. Once you get a message that
the inventory is complete, use the command
Inv Card Prt.
The result will come out with each card or
set on a separate line. Copy it and paste the
information into a document for reference.
