Later on in her room, MaryCatherine sat with her laptop open, set to a Skype connection. Holding a cold compress on her left eye, she had fun sharing this adventure with her older sister in Colorado.
“Apart from tripping and getting knocked out, Brittany, it was a very interesting day,” she confided. “It must have been,” Brittany answered. “I Goo- gled the site and found some fascinating video foot- age — a mother monkey catching her baby who was swinging by on a rope and clutching it to her breast. Really sweet. I saw enough to realize the grounds

“And huge!” MaryCatherine interjected. “We
walked and walked, climbed hundreds of stairs — amazing! Nepali who follow Buddhist beliefs go there to pray. I prayed silently while we were walking, too. I prayed that someone who speaks their language could share the good news about Jesus with them.
“We found two Nepali men at a table selling post- er pictures of Mount Everest with the words, ‘Be still and know that I am God’ printed on them in English. I suppose they were for tourists ... but, still, I thought it was a brave thing to witness in this way. They’re Christians. Dad managed to speak a few words with them.”
