“I have to admit,” Brittany said, “I thought it was
going to be another example of some rich people giving away stuff just to ease their consciences or show off how generous they could be.”
“And what changed your mind?” Dad asked gen- tly.
“Well, for one thing, it was seeing how import- ant prayer was to the whole day’s activity,” she an- swered.
“I was impressed by how carefully everything was planned out. But even more, I saw how important the role of the village pastor was. Just to think that each child’s gift was put together for him specifical- ly,” MaryCatherine said.
“And though we know the funding came from America, I doubt if many others knew this. I couldn’t understand much that was said, but it seemed like a lot of gratitude was extended to the people who brought the relief supplies and children’s gifts. Even more, they recognized our generous Father in heav- en,” finished Brittany, stifling a yawn.
“You’ll be glad to know that a Nepali church in a good-sized town about two hours away from where we were today is planning to get involved,” Dad added. “They’re supporting a young couple to live among the folks we visited. The husband has ex- perience in building projects and will start work to
