   2022 PRESIDENT
LEADING WITH A PURPOSE
As I enter the second half of my term as your President, I am constantly amazed at what we accomplish together. Our members make a difference every day and serve in a variety of ways. We just wrapped up a very successful weekend BBQ and it was a great event! Thank you to Colby Duke for chairing this event, the GSABA staff, the BBQ teams, Washer teams and all the members who came out to support the BBQ. The food was incredible and the fellowship was too.
I want to urge those of you who have considered a leadership position in theAssociationtotakethenextstep. Ifyouhavethetimetocommit, nominate yourself for the Board of Directors election coming up in September. We will elect four Builder members and two Associate members to a three-year term. to the Leadership Council members about being an effective communicator and engaging our membership. If you are interested in being part of the next Leadership Council, we invite you to submit your name for the second class that will kick off in February of 2023. The Leadership Council will meet six times a year and is a great way to plug into the Association, develop relationships and learn ways to get involved and serve our community and industry.
I have learned that together, we can do good things when we share our time and talent. I am excited about our year ahead and our future together.
Sincerely,
San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenburg (right) attended the GSABA Leadership Council meeting in February. He's pictured here with Wyndy Clark of Aligned Mortgage, GSABA President Mike Sowry and Executive Vice President Kristi Sutterfield.
The Executive Committee and Board of Directors meet monthly (except July) and everyone takes on different responsibilities. Each Executive Committee member champions a different cause and we coordinate our efforts together. If you are looking for a way to get involved, we have some great committees that you can get involved in, including Government Affairs, Membership, Young Professionals and the Sales and Marketing Council.
In January, GSABA formed our first Leadership Council with twenty Builder and Associate members who are currently serving on the Board of Directors, have been involved with the Association over the past few years or expressed a desire to be part of the leadership team. The Leadership Council has met two times so far and will meet
again on June 23rd.
The February meeting was about Leadership Development. Jeff Czar, the Leadership Council Chair led the discussion with Co-Chairs First Vice President Shad Schmid, and Second Vice President Tim Pruski. The second breakfast meeting was focused on leadership in our community and San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg was our guest speaker. Our mayor spoke from his heart about serving others and serving our community.
