 North Park Subaru Grand Opening
North Park Subaru has opened up a new multi –level, state of the art facility designed for their Subaru customers and their pets. With new and preowned vehicle sales, parts and accessories, and full service including express oil changes all under the same roof, North Park’s Subaru customers have a new home at 9635 San Pedro!
North Park has been serving San Antonio Subaru clients on San Pedro since 1990; the longest tenure of any Subaru store in the city. Up until now, sales and service have been in separate facilities, but no more. “It’s great to be able to serve our customers-sales, parts and service, all in one location.” says Stephen Markham, General Manager of North Park Subaru. “We have multiple areas for clients to relax inside and outside – up front by our large Subaru fireplace, next to our dog run & kids playground, or up in our innovative obser- vation lounge.” The observation lounge is truly unique – with a high-end automatic coffee machine, healthy snacks, large screen TVs, and room- width windows that look out into the repair shop below!
Quick oil changes with North Parks Express Service might be a good way to introduce yourself to the new facility, amenities and our team. They can do routine maintenance on other makes & models too, so for Subaru owners who have another vehicle in their garage that isn’t a Subaru: let North Park Subaru’s team help maintain it too!
The new facility has been operational since July, with a Grand Opening party held on the evening of November 13th. The party included a band, catered food &
drinks, special vehicle displays, blessing of the building by Monsignor Peter Flood, ribbon cutting & remarks from Mr. Markham as well as owners Clarence Kahlig, Billy Vaughn and Chad Binder, and Subaru of America Director for the Texas Zone, Dave Adams. Dave lives in Dallas, and as a token of appreciation for all he’s done over many years to help both North Park Subaru and North Subaru at Dominion (I-10 @ Dominion Drive), he was presented with a framed artwork gift: one of our city’s most famous icons, Mission San Antonio de Valero -the Alamo.
One of the things Markham feels sets North Park apart is its dedication to custom- er service. “We carry on the North Park tradition here at Subaru.” He added that North Park Subaru is also a proud recipient of the Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment Award, which recognizes on a national level Subaru retailers who actively helped make the world a better place by demonstrating a strong commitment to non-profit causes in their community
“Both North Park Subaru locations (on San Pedro, and at Dominion) partner with different non-profit organizations throughout the year to give back”, Markham said. November & December is Subaru’s annual “Share The Love” event: every new Subaru purchased by the end of the year generates a $250 donation to one of 5 charities ( 4 nationally partnered charities and one local “hometown charity”).
“Share the Love” was started by Subaru in 2008 and to date has totaled over $145 million in donations, rescued more than 55,000 pets, helped to protect 100 national parks, delivered over 2 million meals to
seniors, and granted more than 2,200 wishes to sick children. North Park Subaru on San Pedro partners with Animal Defense League of Texas all year round, not just during “Share the Love”: helping them rescue pets and find new forever homes to be adopted into.
The new San Pedro facility is home to 60 North Park Subaru employees, and Markham said he is proud of each and every one. “They’re very professional, and very community-minded,” he said. “They all focus on, and suggest ways to improve the Subaru customer experience at North Park- it’s an ongoing process and they are all-in. They also participate in many pet adoption events, help deliver blankets to leukemia patients, and deliver donated books to local schools, to name just a few of their efforts to give back within the community.”

The best part about visiting North Park Subaru on San Pedro is how convenient the experience is, added Markham. “You can buy a new car, get your car serviced, buy parts, and relax while inside or outside in the dog park and kids playground;” he said. “We have big TV’s, fresh coffee, healthy snacks and WiFi- bring your kids and furry friends too!”
