The BBQ Cook-Off is just around the corner. We are so excited to welcome back our BBQ teams to wow the judges and the attendees. Join us for a washer tournament on Friday, March 24th at the Cornyval Fairgrounds in Helotes, Texas. If you haven’t received details on the Spring Tour of Homes – the Biggest Open House in Central Texas- call me or reach out to our new Special Events DirectorMcKenzieCook(mcook@sabuilders.com). TheSpringTourofHomes is a scattered site home tour that will feature new homes, spec homes and models in 22 counties. We have an incredible marketing campaign in place thanks to our presenting partner CPS Energy and it includes TV, print, digital and a mobile app powered by Security Service Federal Credit Union (SSFCU). The entry fee per home is $500 and comes with a full listing in the TABloid that will be printed and inserted full run in the SA Express News on Easter Sunday, April 9th. The Spring Tour of Homes Open House Dates are Saturday, April 15th, Sunday, April 16th; Saturday, April 22nd and Sunday, April 23rd.
If you are new to the Association or want to meet our 2023 leadership team and new staff members, join us for New Member Orientation immediately following our March Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, March 21st at 1pm. GSABA’s Board meetings are open meetings and any GSABA member is welcome to attend, we just need to have your reservation in advance. Please call Rachel at 210-696-3800 to make your reservation for the Board luncheon meeting and let Kristen Love, our new Membership Director, know if you will attend the New Member Orientation at 1pm on Tuesday, March 21st at GSABA.
We have been busy mentoring and connecting with students enrolled in the one- and two-year construction trade programs at St. Philips College; the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the Construction Careers Academy (CCA) students at Warren High School. Thursday, March 2nd we are serving lunch to 29 students enrolled in the one- and two-year programs at St. Phillips and we will be awarding 29 scholarships to these students!! It is exciting to get our NAHB/GSABA Student Chapters relaunched after COVID. We are also participating in Women in Construction Week with the female students at CCA on March 7th and 8th! If you are interested in being part of one of our Student Chapters, call me!

We need mentors for our students and speakers for their classes. Shad wrote about the importance of Rally Day in his article. Please get on the bus for the 2023 Rally Day at the State Capitol on Wednesday, March 29th. It will be a day you won’t forget!
In closing, we are so excited to host the 2023 Parade of HomesTM in Castroville, TX. We have six builders in this year’s Parade in Country Village Estates developed by GSABA Past President Jack Uptmore. Mark your calendars for the Preview Party on Friday night, May 19th. We will host an incredible dinner catered by Black Tie Affairs and GSABA members will be able to tour the Parade homes before we open to the public on Saturday, May 20th.
We just kicked off magazine ad sales for the 2023 Parade Style Magazine and we space available for exhibitors in our Exhibitor Tent too! Call the Association for details and how to reserve your booth and ad space! We expect over 7,000 Parade attendees over 3,000 previous Parade of Homes attendees will receive an electronic version of the Parade Style Magazine too!
