Randy Pitts, automotive maintenance and light repair teacher at Satellite High recently won
the Florida Association of Career and Technical Education’s teacher of the year award. His program is currently one of the finalists for
the Tomorrow’s Tech 2016 School of the Year, sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts and WIX Filters.
Students
in the
program
recently
took
second
place in the
national
Quaker
State Best
in Class
challenge. With this win, the school received
a $1,500 AutoZone gift card for the program,
a mechanic’s tool set for the lab, and a $1,000 American Express gift card designated for student scholarships. The team also received a $5,000 travel stipend to attend and participate in the Mecum auction of collectable cars in Austin, TX.

If you hold a professional certificate (five year) that expires on June 30, 2017, now is the time to renew your certificate.
Renewal Application (District website departments tab - certification)
Payroll deduction sheet ($75.00)
120 in-service credits to include 20 in ESE
If you have more than four coverage areas you must have 60 additional in-service credits to renew all areas (total = 180). For endorsements, no credits are needed (gifted, reading, ESOL.)
• If using college credit – official transcript
• If using test(s) – official copy of test score
• If using college teaching – original letter from college.
• If using National Board –copy of NB certificate
• Level II Fingerprint form (see secretary)
All requirements must be completed
by April 1, 2017 to be reappointed;
allow 45 – 60 days to process. Please submit paperwork to Human Resources/ Certification Dept.
