too small or too big. We had a willingness to serve with an open heart,” said Cynthia Adams, Atlantis Elementary principal and member of shelter team Imperial Estates.
“The most rewarding relationships were those connections made with our Brevard County residents that needed to stay at our shelters for safety and comfort. Some of our residents do not have local family members, and going through a severe storm can be frightening and lonely.
I’m glad that we had a chance to be there for our fellow neighbors. Being that open ear and sharing a smile goes a long way,” Adams said.
“Meeting people from different parts of the county, getting to know their personal stories, and sharing this experience together was a privilege. I
got to know
people that I normally wouldn’t interact with and share a
moment together as a hurricane shelter
community,” said Stephanie
