 Long-Distance Swimmer
The yellow-bellied sea snake is the only sea snake that spends most of its time away from the
shore and coral reefs. They can be found in areas ranging from the eastern coast of Africa
to the western coast of Central America and in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. This sea snake is called a pelagic species, which
means that it lives in the open ocean. It can travel long distances by taking a ride on
ocean currents.
