The Fearsome King Cobra
The king cobra is the longest
and largest
venomous snake in the
world.
These creatures are called
king cobras because they kill and eat other snakes, including cobras. Its genus name, or the first part of its name in scientific terms, is Ophiophagus (oh-fee- OFF-ah-gus), means “snake eater!” King cobras can also rise up and look an adult human straight in the eye.
