Richard Harris’s play Stepping Out has been a huge favourite amongst British audiences since it first landed in the West End where the initial run ran for seven years, won Best New Comedy, went to New York and was turned into a film starring Liza Minnelli. Richard is a great inspiration for all aspiring writers. He was working class,
he didn’t have a degree yet he became an extraordinarily successful writer for first of all television, then stage and screen. He has entertained literally millions of people. There is something about Stepping Out which has made it much loved: tonight you will see it brought to life by an extraordinarily talented, mostly female acting company and directed
by the brilliant Maria Friedman. Like life, it will warm your heart, make you laugh and maybe shed a tear. And there’s tap dancing!
