46 45TH EAST DURHAM IRISH FESTIVAL NEWS
45th East Durham Irish Festival Presents:
TOM COMERFORD
Tom Comerford was a founder member of The Whole Shabang, one of the most successful, hard-working and respected Irish bands on the North American scene through the 1990’s. Since 1999 he has continued to work as a full-time entertainer, albeit in a solo capacity, and this allows him a certain amount of flexibility. Whether entertaining a group of visitors to Ireland, performing at a corporate event, or flying high at a festival, you’re going to experience Tom in his natural habitat.
No stranger to touring, Tom still takes to the road with enthusiasm, entertaining not just in Ireland, but through the UK, Europe, and America. You’ll also find him appearing with Andy Cooney, Ronan Tynan and more, on the annual Cruise of Irish Stars, and as a matter of fact – in 2022 these three guys are appearing at the East Durham Irish festival, AND they’re on the same bill at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 12th.
KILMAINE SAINTS
Kilmaine Saints is a band formed on good whiskey and bad intentions. The brainchild of two members of a Harrisburg Pipe & Drum band, this project was originally created with the sole intent of getting them free beer at St. Patrick’s Day shows in the central PA area (and might I add- mission accomplished). After incorporating the help of fellow members from the pipe band and other notable musicians from the area, they soon realized they were in for one hell of a ride.
Since 2009 they have continued to pound through blistering, high-energy live sets that keep people singing along, stomping their feet, lifting their pints and shouting for more. With several hundred shows at pubs and festivals from New Jersey to California, critically acclaimed releases under their belts, national and international airplay, and an ever-expanding and extremely loyal fanbase, it’s no wonder the world is starting to stand up and take notice. In short, The Kilmaine Saints are equal parts Irish swagger, Scottish pride, and whiskey. This explosive Celtic rock band from central PA will steal your heart, your spirit, and your pint when you’re not looking.
GET UP JACK
Described as Celtic/Americana, GET UP JACK takes the great Irish folk music of yesterday and merges it with the energy of American roots music, forming an incredible combination of outstanding vocals and musicianship.
GET UP JACK has released three albums that have been critically acclaimed and award-winning. Their 2nd CD, “Alive And Well, Volume I” was named “2015 Album of The Year” by Celtic Radio, and their version of “The Spanish Lady” was voted “Traditional Song of The Year”.
