45th East Durham Irish Festival Presents:
NINE MILE HOUSE
Ninemile House is a high-energy Celtic Rock band, created by cousins – Michael, Brendan, Joe and Steve Hall. The band gets its name from the Ninemilehouse Pub, County Tipperary, Ireland, where the cousins’ fathers (Milo and Brendan Hall) played music back in the day before making there way to the US.
Since 2015, Ninemile House has played hundreds of events – festivals, pubs and private events – in the NY/NJ area. The band takes traditional irish tunes and adds its own flare to create an upbeat, foot-stomping experience that will leave you wanting more.
The full band members consist of: Michael Hall – Vocals, guitar, bodhrán, harmonica and banjo. Joseph Hall – Vocals mandolin, guitar, harmonica. Brendan Hall – Vocals, tambourine. Steven Samone (he’s basically a Hall) – Vocals, keyboard. Conor McKeown – Drums. Patrick Heaney – Bass. James Sattler – Fiddle.
THE CANNY BROTHERS
In response to the scarcity of live Irish music in their local Brooklyn neighborhood, a group of Irish-American musicians came together to form The Canny Brothers Band. From that simple concept the group has grown over the years to become one of the premier Irish bands on the New York City music scene. The band regularly plays festivals, parties, and pubs in the tri-state area, but especially enjoys playing East Durham Memorial Day Irish Festival in the Catskills and the Great Irish Fair in Coney Island. They have released three well-reviewed albums, including original material, that have gotten national radio airplay and international notice.
The band’s mission is to keep Irish songs and culture alive – and to celebrate their Brooklyn roots.
THE DIDDLEY IDOLS
The Diddley Idols are Queens NYC Native, Dave Barckow (Eileen Ivers) and Dubliner, Louise Barry (Celtic Angels). The New York based duo with the full band sound. After a chance encounter in 2012, Dave and Louise’s undeniable chemistry made them inseparable and together they formed the World Record holding “The Diddley Idols” in 2013, dropping the “American” from Dave’s previous title. As two lead vocalists, they added Dave’s foot operated drum kit and guitar and mandolin and Louise’s ukulele and percussion to finish out their sound.
Their high octane mix of pop and Irish traditional tunes and all the party rock you can handle will having you singing and dancing all night long. Dave’s energy and ability to chat to anyone make him a crowd favorite while you can often find professional dancer Louise doing a step anywhere there’s space. Preferably on top of a bar. A live “tour de force” and “proof that great things really do come in small packages!”
