Penrith August Show & Sale I 19th August 2023
High flying Shorthorn trade at Penrith today for their Late Summer Show & Sale of Dairy Shorthorns kindly sponsored by I’Anson Quality Feeds where a great offering of dairy cattle was on offer.
Champion went to Lot 1 Tahuna Alice 29, a Winbrook Claridge daughter from David Jackson. Calved the 1st August and giving 22 litres she sold for 2150gns the same as her stall mate Lot 2 Tahuna Dewdrop 5. Both were purchased by K Birkett.
Reserve Champion went to J Kelsall with Lot 6 Pewterhouse Lucy 16 by Oxton Winfall. This in calf heifer made 1150 same as her stall mate and both were purchased by R Sunderland.
Top Price was 2550gns for Lot 3 Winbrook Vi 188 a Winbrook King Henry daughter from David Dent. This heifer was purchased by Bekka Blenkarn. Maiden heifers averaged 870gns.
The judging of the Dairy Shorthorn classes was in the capable hands of Mr K Birkett.

A very traditional entry of cattle was forward to an extremely busy ring of buyers, with purchasers keen to take home some genuine locally bred cattle.
An organic Dairy Shorthorn topped at 2000gns for lot 34, Strickley Abigail 34, purchased by Messrs Warburton, Colby Laithes.
A quality consignment of cattle was forward. Messrs GA & D Dent, Winton House, sold a run of 4 pedigree Dairy Shorthorns to average £2008.13, topping at £2205 for lot 3 Winbrook Peeress Rose 34, calved 2-weeks and giving 25kg, a superb strong heifer with an excellent udder, purchased by Messrs NM Strong, Street House.
