ROYAL WELSH SHOW
57
It’s a show her grand-dam won a few years back so it was
only fitting that Aled Groucott’s shearling ewe, Swffryd
Hetti, secured the Female and Supreme Championship at
the Royal Welsh Show, but winning runs in the family as
her naturally-born twin sister, Swffryd Heidi, won the Inter-
breed Championship at the Royal Three Counties.
That granny in question is Hackney Treacle who won here back
in 2017 and in turn bred Hetti’s dam, the Topflite Al Pacino-sired
Swffryd Diamante, which has won numerous breed and Inter-
breed Championships herself. Brought out by Robert Garth and
judged by John Hall, Hetti’s sire is Airyolland Fujiyama.
Achieving a best result to date at the Royal Welsh for Geraint
and Kim Williams was their shearling ram, Dragon Herald, which
stood Male Champion and Reserve Supreme. This Bilboa Gold
Glint son’s dam is full of home genetics, being out of the Dragon
Darren-sired Dragon Emily.
The Jones family’s aged ewe, Munch Cover Girl ET, was Reserve
Female. Her pedigree includes Clary Wheeler Dealer and the
Kingledores Scally Wag-sired Munch Wonga.
Matching his Reserve Male ticket at the Royal Highland was the
Ingram family’s Buckles Fury ET, an 11,000gns purchase for their
Logie Durno Flock. Sired by Gyffin Dexter, his dam is College
Adele, a Kingledores Trojan daughter.
The Ingrams saw their Buckles Jessie ET – by Topflite Al Pacino
and out of Buckles Finsbury – win the ewe lamb class and stand
Reserve Lamb behind Dafydd Owen’s Smart Ass Just Class ET,
which is in turn by Ainstable Factotum and out of Aviemore
Creamola.
The red ticket in the Group of Three class went to Nick Gill and
Kayley Kennedy, while Freddie Little won the Young Handlers
class.
There was Beltex success in the carcase section too as Beltex-
sired lambs claimed both the Champion and Reserve tickets.
Champion was a 21.6kg (41.8kg live) E2 entry from Euros Davies
while Reserve was a 20.9kg (38.4kg live) E2 lamb from Andrew
Bishop.
