EXETER SALE
SWELLE RAM LEADS THE WAY AT EXETER
A shearling ram secured both the top prize and top price for
breeder, Tracey Cobbledick, at the South West Beltex Club’s
offering at the NSA Exeter Ram Sale on Wednesday, 16
August.
That was Swelle Harlem, a Panbeck Frankenstein son from the
flock near Poundstock, Bude, won the shearling ram class before
he was tapped out as Male and Supreme Champion by Margaret
Heard, of the Maundown Flock. Bred from Swelle Foxglove
which is in turn by Swelle Crackerjack, Harlem sold to WG Wrixon
and Son, Horton, Wimborne.
The same vendor and buyer were behind a 420gns transaction
when Swelle Highwayman also sold to WG Wrixon.
Two sold for 500gns apiece with the first of these being the
Reserve Female, a shearling ewe named Fingle Honesty from
Louise Elworthy, Crockernwell. This Ainstable Epilogue daughter
is out of the Teign Valley Talisman-sired Fingle Bandcamp and
she sold to J and JM Hurford, Axminster.
Louise also saw her Female Champion and Reserve Supreme,
Fingle Hobnob, sell to H Rose, Weston Cross, Sidmouth, for
350gns. She is out of Fingle Felttip, herself by The Bare Boy.
Matching that 500gns was Barton Hilfiger, a Barton G-Star-sired
shearling ram from Jessica Collings, St Clether, Launceston.
Selling to Louise Elworthy, his dam is Bartons Fantastic, a
Bishops Desmond daughter.
Lorna and Victoria Gregory saw their Bursyepark Jupitar – by
Matt’s Dare and out of Bursyepark Evergreen – sell to A Kenyon,
Wheal Rose, Scorrier, for 400gns.
