Well! Where’s the year gone, it doesn’t seem long since we all got through 2022 Christmas and New Year celebrations. Lighter nights and longer days will be here soon, and we’ll be back in the swing of spring and this year’s summer shows and sales.
Shrewsbury Champion, Birdswood Paddy
Shrewsbury Reserve Champion Crackley Bank Oscar
One of the first events in the North West is the National British Blue Show and Sale, held at Shrewsbury. This year it was on 5th March, with a high-quality turnout of bulls and females.
The pre-sale show was judge by Mr. Mike Wood of Kinnerton who awarded his champion to Club Member Mr. John Okell with BIRDSWOOD PADDY , sired by Farouk De St Amand out of Birdswood Kitkat. The judge stood behind his placing and secured him for his commercial suckler herd at 6800gns.
Reserve Champion of the day was awarded to Mr P Walker CRACKLEY BANK OSCAR, this upstanding black and white bull was sired by Boherard Cantona, out of the homebred Crackley Bank Iron Candy, he was purchased for 6200gns by Messrs AC & MO Jones of Conway North Wales.
Female Champion was TRENCOM PEARLY QUEEN topped the day at 5200gns, Sired by Littlebank Milo, from a long line of natural calving and long-lasting dams. This was closely followed by her pen mate TRENCROM
POWDER PUFF again by Milo from the easy calving maternal line she achieved 4500gns
This year it was nice to have the show season back in full swing starting with Stafford Country Show which was judged by Mr. Phil Halhead of Norbreck Genetics. Club Member Nigel Pritchard won the Females under 18th months with Norton Rachel & Females over 30th months with Pendle Kitkat which then went on to be Female Champion.
We then moved on to Cheshire Country Show it was a lovely sunny day which was judge by Mr. Phil Brindley. Phil awarded his Supreme Champion to Mr. Nigel Pritchard with Pendle Kitkat and Reserve to Miss Katie Allen with Woodseat Prince.
Club Member Jamie Taylor was Reserve Junior Female at the Great Yorkshire Show with Brookley Blue Rita Ora a January 2021-born daughter of Bosco Du Falgi is out of Brookley Blue Nicki Minaj.
