Royal Cornwall Show I 8th-10th June 2023
The first day of the Royal Cornwall Show saw very large crowds on a sunny day and a
well-presented entry of Dairy Shorthorns.
JUDGE: A WHITTLE
First class - Heifer born after 1st April 2022 – Four calves
were presented in this class; first place went to Mrs L
Phillips with Brimclose Jill 55th by Churchroyd Pharaoh;
a very well grown calf although the youngest in the class.
John Rowe took the next three places with Cargenwen
Solo 16th by Rawghyll Victor, Brimclose Sonnschein 31st
and Brimclose Empress Oxford 20th both by Brimclose
Merlin; very little between these three, all very dairy with
plenty of potential.
Second class - Heifer born on or after 1st June 2020, not
to have calved – First place went to Cargenwen Little
Jane 114th, a very tidy roan heifer by Winbrook Brutus,
her dairyness put her in front of Cargenwen Little Jane
111th, a strong red and white heifer by Oxton Clarity.
Third class – Cow any age in milk or dry – First place
went to John Rowe with Cargenwen Little Jane 95th, a
seventh calver by Nixs LCD Lido [ET], a roan cow wearing
extremely well, very good on her feet with extremely tidy
udder and teat placement – she would go on to be Breed
Champion with Brimclose Jill 55th taking the Reserve
slot, shown by the Phillips family.

effort in running the classes so efficiently and the well-
presented stock.
