Penrith Show I 15th July 2023
It was indeed a privilege to be asked to judge the Dairy shorthorn classes at Penrith Show,
apart from the terrible weather the day was thoroughly enjoyable.
JUDGE: R HUNTER
My father once said, “a good dairy animal is a good dairy
animal whatever its breed” and the Dairy Shorthorns
classes did not disappoint. The cows on show I really
admired for their breed character, body capacity with
great legs and feet which for me are very important,
because, we are all trying to breed cows which last
longer, and the cows on show certainly ticked this box,
Thank you to all exhibitors who took the time and effort
to parade their cattle in such a professional manner
under appalling weather conditions, all classes were of a
high standard and the young stock quality shows that the
future of the breed is secure.
