Association - Herds Competition 2023
Thank you to all members old and new who entered this year’s Herds
Competition; it was a pleasure to see the different herds and the enthusiasm for
the breed.

Dairy
On a beautiful August day, I
had the privilege of judging the
SWCSBA calf and young handler
classes at the Okehampton Show.
The 6 month and under calf
class was won by Hale Skybird
exhibited by Fred Collins and
family. Second was Hale Filkins
131 also by the Collins’ family and
third was Brimclose Jewel 30
shown by Messrs D & S Slade.
Registered calf 6-12 month
on show day was won by Hale
Rose 79th and second was Hale
Emerald 14th, both shown by the
Collins family from Honiton.
Next came the Young Handlers
classes. First was the 11 years
and under class which was won
by Miss Poppy Smith showing
Brimclose Jewel 30th. Very
closely followed by Miss Nancy
Collins.
The 12-16 year old Young
Handler class was won by Miss
Issy Collins and second was Mr
Thomas Slade.
The quality of the cattle was
excellent and a big thank you
should go to the Collins family
(Hale herd) and the Slade family
(Brimclose herd) for all their hard
work beforehand preparing the
cattle and on show day. It was
nice to see two local families
supporting the breed and the
show.
