CHRIS SEAGER BSC
t’s funny how we get a ‘gig’ in Ithis industry. Agent, CV, last
movie, personal recommenda- tions... they all play their part in being sent the script and getting
that first meeting.
The script had been biked to me
the day before. Nick, a brilliant edi- tor and directing his first movie, wanted to meet sooner rather than later and as I was due to go away for the weekend we decided to meet early on that Saturday morning.
I remember sitting outside this pub in Notting Hill looking every passing male up and down trying to decide if the oncoming person was at all ‘director-looking’ while desper- ately trying not to be seen to be looking. I found myself asking, “are directors definable?”
Before long, in the mid-distance I sighted a ginger-bearded man walk- ing toward me. As he got closer we both blurted out, respectively, ‘are you Nick?’ and ‘are you Chris?’ How did that meeting go, you now ask? Well, we got on fine, and the proof is in the movie.”
