Oscar winner MICHAEL CAINE, on the East End set of his latest film SHINER. In it he plays a rough, tough boxing promoter who is experiencing family treachery of Shakespearean proportions. For this Spring edition of EXPOSURE we go on location to West Bay, Dorset with top TV star Nick Berry shooting a sec- ond series of the popular BBC series HARBOUR LIGHTS. Then on to Somerset where John Hannah and Linus Roache are playing poets William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge in Julien Temple’s new film PANDAEMONIUM. Our regular feature, Behind The Camera, focuses on three cinematographers with fascinating tales to tell. Having just com- pleted Guy Ritchie’s Snatch with Brad Pitt and Vinnie Jones, TIM MAURICE-JONES is now lighting Human Nature, his first feature in Hollywood, co-starring Patricia Arquette, Tim Robbins and Wales very own star, Rhys Ifans. Well-travelled VINCENT COX is currently in his native South Africa shooting a pair of features back-to-back for Peakviewing.
OLIVER CURTIS BSC is presently preparing The Final Curtain for producer Duncan Kenworthy’s Lottery-funded DNA consor- tium. Whilst in Flashback, veteran cine- matographer GIL TAYLOR BSC reflects on a career that has spanned across British silents to Star Wars and beyond.
Yorkshire proclaims itself “God’s own county” and certainly film-makers now find it a haven thanks to its MEDIA PRODUCTION AGENCY and a forward-thinking and imaginative local Commission. Think of films like Brassed Off, Fanny & Elvis and The Darkest Light. Professional filmmakers are flocking into East London to THREE MILLS ISLAND STUDIOS which recently acco- modated Oscar-winning Topsy-Turvy. It also boasts the largest free standing set in Europe for the gritty and realistic ITV prison series Bad Girls.
We take an insiders look at the incred- ible documentary series THE ULTIMATE GUIDE: PLANES; the filming of a Notting Hill Carnival based revenge comedy called LAVA and a cinematographer’s view of the new SUPER F-400 film stock. ■
