Inevitably the trades focused over the past year on the Film Council’s new plans for investing Lottery funds into film pro- duction but the reality is that film financing is actually one small part of the Film Council’s role as the strategic body with responsibility for advising government on film policy. Much of what chairman Alan Parker and the Board want to achieve will only be realised with the support of both the private sector and govern- ment over the coming years.
