“IT’S VERY CHARACTER-DRIVEN, AND THE FACT THAT IT’S SET IN THE 60S MEANT THAT WE SHOT IT IN A VERY TRADITIONAL WAY.”

Wehadtoshoota carchase
scene that was a mixture of green “screen and live action. We shot it
in a studio owned by a car manufac- turer based just outside of Brussels. They had built their own green
screen studio, where they did all their publicity shots. It was fantastic. We had this almost 360 degree green screen, so we shot all our car interiors on that stage.
We did this after shooting the exterior car chase shots, so that we knew what the weather would be like and I could match the lighting. Then we went back out and did all the plate shots for the moving background.
It was tricky to do, but one of the main reasons we did it that way was that it was easier for the actors to give a performance in controlled con- ditions, rather than being towed
or having to drive for real.
