Since graduating from the NFTS in 2004 her lighting career has blossomed, consistently drawing praise as she combined commercials and short films, both here and back home in her native country.
Her work includes promos for the Danish language translation hits like High School Musical, for example, as well as well acclaimed shorts such as Between Us and the Fujifilm shot Romans 12:20, and, more recently, features. These comprise Min bedste fjende (aka My Good Enemy) directed
by Oliver Ussing, and Thomas Vinterberg’s award winning Submarino.
Most recently there is Hunky Dory, originated primarily on 16mm Super F- 64D and ETERNA 250D, an
uplifting tale of musical inspiration in a Welsh school during the extremely long hot summer of 1976.
Minnie Driver stars as the new teacher in a Swansea comprehensive who engages her class by having them perform orchestral renditions of contemporary classics by David
Bowie, The Beach Boys and Dusty Springfield, among others.
“She’s using the music to make these kids wake up and understand more than the other teachers are able to,” explains Bruus Christensen. Although this was her first time working with Welsh director Marc Evans, she recognised that this tale had very personal echoes for him in its setting and period. This in itself posed a particular set of challenges.
“A very important issue for Marc was that there always had to be
