OPTEX WINS EMMY
Following the award of an Academy Plaque in Hollywood earlier this year, British optical and lighting manufacturer OpTex has now scooped an Engineering Emmy for its uniquely designed softlight Aurasoft.
The citations on the Emmy go to chief executive Ron Collins, on behalf of OpTex, and Derek C Lightbody for Invention and Design. Aurasoft was used on recent films like Shakespeare In Love and Elizabeth as well as countless TV dramas, soap operas and commercials. ■

Funeral Of The Last Gypsy King, written and directed by Fuji Scholarship award winner Jane Rogoyska, is already lined up for showcasing in four major short film festivals this year - Toronto, Huesca, Montecatini and Karlovy Vary.
Completed in March, the eight-minute drama tells the lyrical and magical story of a gypsy musician whose funeral proves the power of his music has survived even though he himself is dead.
Shot on 35mm by DP Alex Howe using Fuji 125 and 250 daylight stock, the film was funded by the London Production Fund and used locations in Borth and Aberystwyth, Mid Wales.
The production was a collaboration between Rogoyska and producer Meg Thomson’s Arcane

MULTi - Film for all Occasions.
The integrated media campaign
has been supporting the new Superia MULTi and Nexia MULTi films via a combination of advertising, money-off vouchers and PR in both the print media and television.
The bulk of the TV commercial was directed by Blackadder producer John Lloyd who began his long collab- oration 20 years ago with Atkinson on the trailblazing BBC comedy sketch series Not The Nine O’Clock News. ■

DUNTON’S BIG BUY
oe Dunton has bought Panavision Europe’s 50 per cent share in 2.35 Research for $680,000. This gives Dunton complete control of the

The acquisition of 2.35 also includes the Wilmington-based Mitchell Camera Company which has a large inventory of spare parts for Mitchell camera and accessories as well as the blueprint archive. The purchase further broadens the company folio which also includes Joe Dunton and Co, Joe Dunton Cameras and EF Moy Ltd. ■
