The First Known Residents Of Mitre House 1933
Flat 3 -Wilfred Henry Troutbeck was one of the original residents of Mitre House. He was the son of Henry Troutbeck, the physician and chief medical officer to the boys at Westminster School.
Baptised at Westminster Abbey in 1902, educated at Westminster School and in late 1929 married Pauline (Polly) Marion Luce, an actress, living in London but she was born in Indiana, USA on 29 March 1905.
By the time they both moved into the newly built Mitre House, residing in Flat, 3 Polly was well known and in 1933 appeared in two films; Send ‘em Back Half Dead as Marie Ruck and Maid Happy as Madge.They moved out shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War,
Flat 5 -Harold Montague Smith was the son of a physician called Percy Montague Smith and the very first occupant of Flat 5, Mitre House whilst working as a Royal Navy marine engineer.
