Dear Michele -
Oh dear - "seems you can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time....." to (almost) quote Bob Dylan but he only visited Mitre House once years ago during his Earl's Court concert in 1978 before it became a madhouse.
Thank you for reply and yes, as a designer, I never imagined large 20ins plastic light fitments (option C) would ever be considered appropriate. Somewhat confusing was the disparity of sizes suggested for the landing lights, a very small 11 ins and a very large 20 ins - again, as a designer I would have thought that one was far too small, and the other far too bulbous (and plastic) given the positionings required.
I have previously commented on Brass Candle Lanterns being more Victorian Gothic as opposed to Mitre House's leaning to the more 1920s avant garde, Art Deco.
Once Flats 5, 8 and 9's preferred lighting is installed, Lessees can assess and comment for years
Three of Management obviously do not have the support and confidence of 100% of Lessees, most especially a minority small coterie who regularly agree on all points in direct contradiction to those of Management
.
I refer to two recent examples, namely, the appointment of main contractor over Management's recommendation and most recently to lighting unit preferences, both of which had some, but not all, members of this same small group totally in agreement on all points.
I regret that a majority of Management have neither the time, inclination nor energy to argue every decision finding it far easier to simply agree with the preferences of these opinionated, and one hopes qualified to comment, Lessees.
Naturally, our sincere apologies to the silent majority who may or may not be in agreement with their neighbouring lessees' preferences. I would make the point, though, that this silent majority is THE only majority...!
Best wishes and let's hope that these few lessees' preferences to date, which have been agreed to by Management, contrary to our good advice, prove worthy for the benefit of Mitre House, your investment and any selling/letting prognosis.
The purchased preferred lights do not instil great confidence, though, but will supply more than sufficient illumination against the pale grey walls and ceilings.
Sadly nothing like I, nor the majority of Management, had envisaged for the interior common parts.
Paul

PS Anyone want to buy an art deco walnut mail table - it will be a design faux-pas with brass lanterns and grey walls!
