We had interiors, exteriors,
night stuff, day for night and the “stock handled it all beautifully. We only had three mags, so having
it all loaded at 500T meant it was quicker for us.
The idea is that there’s a colder ambience in the beginning, and when he meets this wonderful girl Malika it becomes slightly warmer. When he goes over to France with her almost every scene has an abundance of colour. It’s magical and beautiful. Then when he finally comes back at the end of the story there is that little bit more warmth and hope in his life, which is great.
For me the English side of it was going to be pretty straightforward. There was some day for night, which was a little bit difficult, because
we only had a very small lighting package donated by Parallax.
But when we got to the forest that was almost like a commando trip. Again we had night for night scenes where we only had three sun guns to make it look quite real, which I think we did.
