Nominees, Council and Committee Members as well as sponsors will be invited to a net- working evening in advance of the British Academy Television Craft Awards on May 11.

The aim is to encourage chil- dren and young people to think
creatively and become engaged in the arts, and for people working in the creative industries to become involved with the next generation of artists in their local communities.
The artists, who will encompass a broad range of disciplines including painting, sculpture, installation art, writing, music (of all genres), dance, architecture, acting, photography and graph- ic design will work closely with the pupils and bring to them a broader awareness of how the creative process works.
The definition ‘artist’ will be as wide, varied and up-to-date as possible, reflecting the diverse range of creativity in the community, to give everyone the chance to become exposed to innovative methods and ways of thinking.
HAow You Can Help
rtists throughout the country can contact Big Arts Week or register their details online at www.bigartsweek.com. They will then be put in touch with a local school – who can register their interest in the same way.
Both parties will then be issued with a Big Arts Week pack which includes ideas, information
and guidelines about putting project ideas together to inspire young people. Arrangements are made between the school and
artist as to the nature of the proj- ect and how much time is spent creatively during the week.
   OAFTA at the Bar
n May 1, we will again gather to celebrate the achievements of those nominated for the British Academy Television Craft Awards, now entering their fourth year as an individual ceremony, which provides a proper opportunity to highlight and celebrate excel- lence from behind the scenes.
