BUCKINGHAM PALACE
As President of the British Academy
of Film and Television Arts,
may I welcome members and other readers
to this first issue of ACADEMY. I am delighted to be associated with what I’m sure is going to be a leading journal for the industry.
It will reflect the Academy’s objective of constantly seeking, promoting and celebrating excellence.
It will stimulate debate on key issues facing film, television and the interactive sectors and provide an insight into the thinking of leading personalities such as Alan Parker and Greg Dyke.
It will capture the glamour of the Academy’s five Award ceremonies in 2000 and keep members up-to-date with activities
in the BAFTA regions at home and in America.
During twenty-five enjoyable years as the Academy’s President,
I can recall many new chapters and many successful advances. I’m sure ACADEMY will be another significant step forward.
A fitting new venture for a new millennium.
HRH THE PRINCESS ROYAL, PRESIDENT BAFTA
