As a 19-year-old shooting seamlessly led to another. The Libertine
is a case in point, coming about after working with director and long-time friend Laurence Dunmore on a memo- rable Eurostar commercial featuring John Malkovich.
“That started the whole film thing rolling,” Melman explains. “That’s where John offered Laurence this script to direct because he liked the way he worked. And three years later we’ve made the film.”
