BUILDING PERMITS
Single-Family Building Permits Year-End Numbers Up Over 2014 – Creating over 15,000 Local Jobs
Indianapolis, IN – Building permit reports indicate that in the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County area, Single-Family Building Permits rose
10 percent over last month and rose
one percent compared to 2014 numbers. As of December 2015, there were 5,118 new home permits issued compared to 5,084 in 2014 in the nine-county area.
“The December permit gains certainly indicate the market is moving forward and making great progress in Central Indiana,” says Steve Lains, CEO of
the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. “Market analysts are predicting a strong 2016 for housing, forecasting steady increases
throughout the year. Housing demand will continue to outweigh supply which

is why we’ll see steady increases and
not large spikes in permit numbers in 2016,” says Lains.
In the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County region, the permits issued in December 2015 have created a total economic impact of $916,550,905 in local
income, $208,072,229 in local taxes, and 15,518 local jobs (see chart below).
