Single-Family Permit Numbers Continue to Rise as Builder Con dence Strengthens
Indianapolis,IN– TheBuilders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) announced that in the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County area, Single-Family Building Permits rose 2 percent this month compared to last year’s numbers. As of April 2017, there were 1871 new home permits issued year-to-date compared to 1833 last year. Additionally, according to the National Association of Home Builders, Builder Con dence rose
2 points, the second highest since
the downturn.
“Itisbecauseofthegrowing builder con dence and the current optimism in the market that we are seeing rising numbers month- over-month,” says Steve Lains, CEO of the Builders Association
of Greater Indianapolis. “While
the industry is still experiencing labor shortages as a whole, we are pleased to see steady numbers, especially in Marion County
as we promote downtown new construction with the First Internet Bank Indy Rama this month.”
In our nine-county area, we are seeing a rise in permit numbers in Hancock County, Johnson County, Madison County, Marion County and Morgan County. Hamilton County is pulling
in the most single-family permits with 719 in April, followed by Marion County with 321 and Hendricks County reporting 274.
