Summer begins without movie theaters!
What a loss! At least you can see amazing movies in the comfort of your own home. The first one I’m going to tell you about is “The Wife” starring the Oscar nominated Glenn Close.
You can see it on Starz throughout
June. Close has neve won an Oscar and this performance was going to finally earn her won. She was definitely cheated. If you haven’t seen this gem, this is your chance.
Another amazing movie on Starz this month is “Forrest Gump”. It’s one of those recent classics you have to see a second time.
Brad Pitt finally won his Oscar
this year for “Once Upon A Time in
Hollywood” and you can see it on
Starz June 4th. An earlier classic of
Brad Pitt’s is “Meet Joe Black”. Also on Starz June 4th. Julianne Moore fans can see “After the Wedding” on Starz June 8th. It was a hit at arthouse movie theaters so if you haven’t had the chance, enjoy!
A film that never made it to theaters in 2018 is “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan”. It stars Natalie Portman and Susan Sarandon. How can you go wrong? It’s on Starz throughout June.
Showtime brings back “The Birdcage” and “Boogie Nights” throughout June. Fans of “A Clockwork Orange” can also see that classic this month. HBO premieres “Ad Astra” starring Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones June 6th. It’s definitely worth seeing. Helen Mirren fans will want to see “The Good Liar” on June 13th. It also stars Ian McKellen. On June 20th, HBO premieres “Ford vs. Ferrari” starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale. Both are fantastic
in this film. On June 27th is the premiere of “Doctor Sleep” starring Ewan McGregor. It’s the unofficial sequel to “The Shining”.
For those of you hungry for new programming at Netflix, you’re in luck! “The Politician” season 2 premieres June 19th. Fans of George Lopez will want to see his new standup special “We’ll Do It For Half.” It premieres June 30th. Fans of the other funny Hispanic comedian, Gabriel Iglesias will want to see “Mr. Iglesias Part 2” It premieres June 19th. The final season of “Fuller House” premieres June 2nd. The fourth and final season of “13 Reasons Why” premieres June 5th. A new movie directed by Spike Lee called “Da 5 Bloods” premieres June 12th. It stars Delroy Lindo. “Feel the Beat” a new comedy starring Sofia Carson premieres June 19th.
Broadway is suspended till September 6th but you can find your favorite Broadway stars on television. First is “Dear Evan Hansen” dynamic duo Ben Platt and Laura Dreyfusss on “The Politician” which has its second season premiere June 19th. It also stars Oscar winners Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Lange. Second is “Ozark” starring Laura Linney and Janet McTeer. Linney recently starred on Broadway in a one woman show, “My Name is Lucy Barton” and McTeer won a Tony award for her performance in the 1997 revival of “A Doll’s House”. “Ozark” also stars my childhood friend, Jason Bateman. Third is “Hollywood”. It features Broadway favorites Patti LuPone, Darren Criss, Jeremy Pope and Joe Mantello. Last is “Snowpiercer” on TNT. It stars Daveed Diggs who played Thomas Jefferson in the original cast of “Hamilton”for which he won a Tony!
This is the 35th anniversary of “The Goonies” and you can catch that gem this month on basic cable. There you have it!
Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce in The Wife
