Hoofbeats in the Vineyard

Equi-Ed, a therapeutic equestrian program, and
Shone Farm Equestrian program present the 3rd annual Hoofbeats in the Vineyard, April 29th, from 12:30-5:00
pm at The Santa Rosa Junior College Shone Farm Equestrian Center, 7450 Steve Olson Lane, Forestville, CA. Tickets are $25 in advance for adults, and $20 in advance for students. Admission is free for children 12 and under. All proceeds from this event benefit Equi-Ed and Shone Farm Equestrian. Advance tickets may be purchased on line through brown paper tickets (http://www.brownpapertickets. com/hoofbeats) or in person at Friendly Feed in Fulton, Apples N Carrots tack store in Larkfield, and at Western Farm Center
in Santa Rosa. Tickets also are available at the door on the day of the event, at $30 for adults and $25 for ages 13-20.
Now in its 3rd year, Hoofbeats
in the Vineyard is an afternoon
event and a fundraiser for
two organizations; Equi-Ed
Therapeutic Equestrian program, and the Santa Rosa Junior College Shone Farm Equestrian program. These programs provide equestrian lessons, activities, and education to students and individuals of all abilities. The event features a variety of vendors, horse, and equestrian related demonstrations, and offers free tastes of Shone Farm’s own wines and olive oils. Guided tours of the farm also will be offered.
Vaulting, gymnastics, and dance on horseback by the Tambourine Vaulters of Petaluma.
The day’s events at Hoofbeats in the Vineyard will include:
• An opening National Anthem with presentation of the colors by the WAVE (Wounded American Veteran’s Equestrian) program of Equi-Ed and from SRJC Equine Science staff and students.
The California Centaurs demonstrate speed, accuracy, and a oneness between horse and rider with mounted archery.
• A demonstration by the Tambourine Vaulters, performing gymnastics, and dance on horseback • A drill team demonstration by the Petaluma Riding and Driving Junior Drill Team
• A demonstration by Wine Country Arabians, featuring their beautiful Arabian horses in native costume.
• A quadrille (riding to a freestyle dressage pattern put to music) performed by 4 riders and volunteers from Equi-Ed and the SRJC Equine Science and the Adapted Physical Education departments.
• A talk on equine nutrition by Claire Thunes, DVM, Equine Nutrition
• A live discussion on equine hoof care, with “Ask the Farrier.”
Baked goods and a lunch menu will be provided by Monday Bakery of Napa and El Coronel of Sebastopol, and proceeds from a silent auction will benefit Equi-Ed. PHOTOS by Marcie Lewis
