the NeuwPolitic: Artists Explore

The Petaluma Arts Center presents the NeuwPolitic: Artists Explore, a
juried regional competition, on display from April 4 to May 20, 2017.
The exhibition will include work from 80 artists representing 12 counties in Northern and Central California and will explore the current political climate
as each individual artist envisions it. Artworks include anything the artists consider relevant to their interpretation of theNeuwPolitic, abstract or representational, functional or non-functional. Over 300 artists submitted work.
Artists were asked to consider this question: “Now is the time for a much-needed dialogue surrounding politics; can art help start these conversations and facilitate the connections that are so needed?”Now
is the time for a much-needed dialogue surrounding politics, and artistic expression provides us with a unique platform to share that dialogue. In times of great change and turmoil, art can provide a solace,
a human connection across the time spectrum.

The jurors are art dealer Paul Mahder of the Paul Mahder Gallery in Healdsburg, CA; and art consultant Susan Larson of Sebastopol, CA. Three cash awards will be given to the winners: $1,500 for first place, $750 for second place, and $500 dollars for third place. Prizes will be awarded at the opening reception on Saturday, April 1 from 5-7 p.m.
