The Artisans’ Co-Op Gallery is moving 100 feet to the southwest from its almost 20 year location in the village of Bodega. Council on Aging Celebrates its 50th with a Mural Design Contest ~ submit a painting or drawing that will serve as a model for a large building banner or a mural to grace the exterior wall of COA’s Meals on Wheels kitchen building. All entries must be submitted no later than Nov 30. Art of Oak ~ Wine Road Sonoma County is heading into 2016 with a year of events to celebrate their 40th Ruby Anniversary. “Art of Oak” will be an opportunity for 40 local artists to showcase their creativity using a wine barrel. Barrels will be on display at 40 different wineries starting Feb. 10- May 10; and the finished art will be auctioned on May 14, 2016. www.wineroad.com/40th/

The Redwood Guild of Fiber Arts is celebrating 65 years of shepherding the
ancient crafts of weaving, spinning, felting, and knitting into the 21st century. The Guild, with more than 100 members from Sonoma, Lake, Marin and Mendocino counties, embraces all aspects of the fiber arts: weaving, spinning, tapestry, felting, basket making, knitting, crochet, lace, etc.
The Guild began in 1949 with an outreach program to the schools in the area, letting children – and some adults – know what went into making cloth . Soon a group of local spinners joined the Guild They continued meeting, exhibiting, demonstrating and growing as they passed on the ancient knowledge and skills of the fiber arts. In the past decade, many knitters, felters, and basket makers joined the Guild.
