Award season begins this weekend with the 75th Golden Globes! My choice for best picture- drama is “Dunkirk” and Frances McDor- mand for best actress for her amazing work in “Three Billboards Out- side Ebbing, Missouri”. It’s still playing at the Summerfield if you want to see it before Sunday. I would love for Sam Rockwell to win best supporting actor for “Three Billboards...” since I went to high school with him. If he gets nominated for
an Oscar he will be the first stu-
dent from School of the Arts in San
Francisco to get nominated. Frances
and Sam are also nominated and
hope they win.

Movies coming out in Janu-
ary include “Insidious: The Lost
Key” starring Lin Shaye. It opens
this Friday. Opening January 12th
include “The Commuter” star-
ring Liam Neeson and Vera Farmiga. It’s not January without a Liam Neeson movie! Also opening January 12th is “Proud Mary” starring Taraji P Henson and one of my
favorite actors Danny Glover. “The
Post” starring Meryl Streep and
Tom Hanks finally opens in So-
noma County January 12th. “Pad-
dington 2” also opens January
12th for the kids in your life. Chris
Hemsworth fans will be happy he
has a new movie opening January
19th. It’s called “12 Strong” and
also stars Michael Shannon. Also
opening January 19th is “Den of Thieves” starring Gerard Butler. Hopefully it’s better than his last movie, “Geostorm” which is one of the worst movies of 2017.

For my live theater fans you still have a chance to see “My Way:
A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra” at the Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma. It closes January 14th. It shows on Friday and Saturday at 8pm. And Sunday at 2pm. Call 707 763 8920 for tickets. For those of you willing to drive to San Francisco you’re in for a treat! Tony Award winner Judith Ivey stars in Harold Pinter’s “The Birthday Party” di- rected by Carey Perloff showing at the A.C.T. theater 415 Geary Street San Francisco. Call 415 749-2228 for tickets.
If you haven’t had a chance to
see “Lady Bird” or “the Shape
of Water” you still can at the
Summerfield. One movie to stay away from is “All the Money in the World”. Director Ridley Scott thought he was doing us a service by erasing Kevin Spacey from his movie but instead made a mess out of his movie. Every scene Christopher Plummer is in, the viewer can tell the scene was redone. Michelle Williams delivers an amazing perfor- mance but when she’s on screen with Plummer the vibe changes. This will cost her an Oscar nomination which is very sad.
