The Oscar nominations came out last week and I was very happy that “La La Land” scored 14 nominations! It’s the movie to beat. I’m also happy with the multiple nominations “Fences” received. Denzel Washington could join the exclusive “3 Oscar Club” that only Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and Daniel Day Lewis belong to. The other lms nominated for Best Picture include “Arrival”, “Hacksaw Ridge”, “Hell or High Water”, “Hidden Figures”, “Lion”, “Manchester By the Sea” and “Moonlight”. Mel Gibson was nominated for Best Director for “Hacksaw Ridge” which o cially welcomes him back to the good graces of the Academy. You have most of this month to catch up if you haven’t seen these amazing movies. The place to be Oscar night is Sally Tomatoes in Rohnert Park where you can join fellow movie lovers on THE night of the year. It is a bene t for the Rotary Club.
