    PROPOSED Gas Stations UPDATE
By Woody Hastings
Petaluma Gas Safeway: As of the end of September the Petaluma Gas Safeway gas station proposal is being addressed in a legal case at the Sonoma County Superior Court. For information about that case, visit: https://www. opposepetalumasafewaygas.com/the-lawsuit.html
Highway 12 & Llano Road: The proposed gas station at 5300 Sebastopol Road between Santa Rosa and Sebastopol is still on deck to be heard at the Sonoma County Board of Zoning Adjustments. Comments to that body and letters to local newspapers are important at this time. See the information at the end of this update for where to send your comments.
The proposal at Highway 12 & Llano Road is for a 12-pump gas station, mini- mart, carwash, and recreational vehicle storage yard all on a well in the middle of the Laguna de Santa Rosa. In addition to all of the concerns noted above, we are in the midst of a climate crisis. July 2019 was the hottest July ever recorded for planet-wide average temperature, the Amazon Rainforest is burning, and the Greenland Ice Cap is rapidly melting. We should not be expanding or permitting new fossil fuel infrastructure in 2019. We need more pedestrian and bicycle-friendly environments, improved clean public transit, and clean vehicle infrastructure expansion
