Sally Baker at Graton Gallery Transparency Matters is the
theme of the new show at the Graton Gallery that opens on November 12th and goes through December 15th. It features watercolorist Sally Baker who is joined by glass artists Valerie Adams, Monica Boettcher, Mark Freed, Branka Harris,
Sally’s paintings use transparent watercolor to create luminous, saturated paintings that sparkle with intensity. Using layers of watercolor, called glazing, she is able to achieve a richness that many find unexpected in watercolor paintings.
A former high school art teacher, Sally’s goal is to help others
observe the beauty that surrounds us all...to look more carefully, and to see through the negativity in our society and confirm that “Transparency Matters.”

Her still lifes, composed of glass,
flowers, persimmons, fabrics, and
pottery capture specific moments in
time that she feels she is “rescuing”.
She endeavors to have the viewer

Her hope is to engage these viewers, encourage them to slow down and take a visual journey with her.
