EXPLORE ~ Art at the Source
Yvonne Giamborne-Martin
Next I want to see
the work of Rene Dayan-Whitehead who describes her stone sculpture as expressing the movement and shapes of dance. Her forms express movement, juxtaposing the softness of movement and the hardness
of the stone. Her works are somehow luminous. Perhaps it’s the material she works with, but I can’t wait to see them
in person and to ask her how her work seems not only to be moving, but also to glow. (3520 Bloomfield Rd., Sebastopol) renedayanwhiteheadstudio.com

First I am going to see the kinetic jewelry of Yvonne Giamborne-Martin. She describes her work as including mechanical elements as she strives to create miniature kinetic sculptures that can be worn. She works in precious metals and incorporates natural stones. I think I will have to leave my credit card in the car or better yet, at home!! (2060 Blucher Valley Rd, Sebastopol)

Finally, off to Santa Rosa to see the
most amazing sculpture of all. This is
the fantastic kinetic sculpture of Zach Fresco. Based on his web site, Zach Fresco recommends visiting in the afternoon when the breezes are blowing for the best views of the movement. His work is very beautifully engineered, super creative, beautiful lines and a tremendous variety of movement. He has two series, called “Circle Series” and “Chaos Series”. They are aluminum and/

He states, “ It seems to me that science is indistinguishable from magic understood, and technology is indistinguishable from magic used.” you MUST see this in person a photo will not do it justice.
