OUR HOPE / ONLINE FUNDRAISING
Crowdfunding is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to raise money for City of Hope. These efforts harness the power of social media and people’s networks to fund specific projects, events or initiatives. A crowdfunding campaign can even be built around a virtual event.
ourHope is City of Hope’s peer-to-peer fundraising program and a way for you to support the lifesaving work being done at City of Hope.
PERSONAL GIVING CLUBS
– INDIVIDUAL GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Since the earliest days of the National Business Products Industry’s efforts to support City of Hope, volunteers have looked for ways to contribute beyond their companies’ philanthropic activities. Personal giving remains a strong component of the industry’s annual initiative.
In 2021, the National Business Products Council continues its personal giving support goal to raise $3 million by 2021 in support of the NBPI Chemical GMP Synthesis Facility. To date, industry personal giving contributions with Essendant’s match have raised more than $2.4 million!

VIRTUAL EVENTS
The National Business Products Industry’s partnership is important to City of Hope and all the people whose lives are touched by our science and care. One way to maintain the momentum of the NBPI’s fundraising through the pandemic is to sponsor virtual events in lieu of in-person events that cannot be conducted safely.
Virtual events enable us to continue fostering connections — between industry members, from longtime veterans to new faces, and between the NBPI and City of Hope. This is the best way of bringing people together in a safe but fun setting to help raise critical funds for research and treatment. It represents an opportunity to express your dedication to helping patients with cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases — and your imagination, as well.
For inspiration, here are some of the NBPI’s remote gatherings from last year’s campaign:
2020 Office Products Women in Leadership Virtual Kentucky THURBY Sponsored by HP
A virtual twist on the time-honored tradition of celebrating the Kentucky Derby each year on the Thursday prior to the race, this event helped raise nearly $50,000 for City of Hope thanks to a generous match from HP. Attendees learned about the rich history of the Kentucky Derby and the secrets of the true mint julep, while enjoying one of the most entertaining virtual horse racing game platforms available.
2020 Bike for Hope
An example of how “virtual” doesn’t have to mean “sitting in front of a computer,” Supplies Network and HP sponsored an event that engaged bikers of all skill levels to support City of Hope. Participants put some miles on their road bikes, trail bikes, motorcycles and stationary bikes, raising more than $60,000 with a generous match from HP.
2020 Virtual Spirit of Life® Gala
Last year, instead of our customary in-person gala, more than 300 top executives from the NBPI joined together for good times and successful fundraising, in an effort that garnered nearly $1 million.
