Personal Giving
The National Business Products Industry continues its personal giving support of City of Hope’s life-saving research initiatives to continue delivering hope to those that need it most – each year, City of Hope research impacts the lives of more than 100 million patients around the world.
This year, your generous contributions will go towards supporting one of City of Hope’s most advanced research initiatives – The Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research in the Hematologic Malignancies Research Institute at City of Hope. The goal of the National Business Products Industry will be to raise $1 million over the course of the year towards this initiative.
About The Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research in the Hematologic Malignancies Research Institute at City of Hope.
At City of Hope, our talented physicians and scientists are committed to making even the most deadly forms of cancer and leukemia entirely treatable. That ambitious goal and its lifesaving promise guide the work of leukemia research luminary Guido Marcucci, MD. Under Dr. Marcucci’s leadership, the Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research is actively developing next-generation therapeutics for all leukemias, with a special focus on acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Under Dr. Marcucci’s direction, in consultation with the Director of the Hematologic Malignancies Research Institute and our Provost and Chief Scientific Officer, an Accelerator Fund for the Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research has been developed at City of Hope which invests in innovative research with the potential to revolutionize how AML and other forms of leukemias are treated.
With a vision that encourages creativity and ingenuity in the face of complex cancers, Dr. Marcucci and his team of scientists are developing a variety of highly personalized,
targeted therapies that can treat various forms of leukemia more effectively, and with minimal side effects.
Philanthropic support can help speed these and other leading-edge research projects towards potentially life- saving conclusions. Your investment in the Accelerator Fund will give our scientists the tools they need to scale up the creation of novel therapeutics and swiftly move forward with clinical trials of our most promising new treatments for AML.
Guido Marcucci, MD, is the founding Director of the Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research at City of Hope. He is also the founding Chief in our Department of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation’s Division of Leukemia, as well as a founding Chair and Professor in our Department of Hematologic Malignancies Translational Science.
A center of excellence within City of Hope’s Hematologic Malignancies Research Institute, the Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research embodies the best of our culture of collaborative teamwork and inventive thinking. The Center’s expert researchers are routinely invited to present at major medical conferences and publish their findings in esteemed scientific and medical journals. Under the direction of world-renowned leukemia expert Guido Marcucci, MD, the Center’s clinicians and scientists study the origin, development and progression of leukemia in order to create novel therapies that will help patients survive and thrive beyond the disease.
