My favorite memory was...
(Former Singers)
...auditioning at Linda and Mark’s house; those first rehearsals at Zion Lutheran in Hummelstown; and the rehearsal at a church in Middletown, after which we met to talk about what to call the group. Bob remembers a trip to Reading with Linda to meet with a lawyer who helped the group become incorporated. The lawyer was used to helping garage bands and didn’t know what to make of a choir! Many great memories that have lasted through the years! – Bob and Mary Brod
...singing My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose while on tour in St. Andrews, Scotland. It was as if time had stood still, and we were no longer singing the music. We were the music. I cherish that one jewel-like memory which will stay with me throughout my life. – Andrew Gutknecht
...meeting Stephen Paulus at a conference. I told him that the Chorale was doing Pilgrim’s Hymn in the round, surrounding our audiences. His response was “Wow. Not many directors would have the courage to do that.” There are many musical moments
that were incredibly special. – Scooter Haase
My most memorable event was ...being given the opportunity to sing the role of Eleanor Roosevelt in a
piece by that name written by Libby Larson. It proved
to be the most challenging and rewarding endeavor of
my vocal career. My life was enriched beyond measure being able to join my voice with so many talented and dedicated singers as we stood shoulder to shoulder sharing, not only magnificent music, but making friendships that have lasted for 40 years. – Marcia Sharpe
I remember the early days, when the chorale was very small. We sang madrigals at Mt. Hope Estate and Winery. That was always great fun! I also loved the Valentine’s Day concerts in which we collaborated with other
groups. One of my favorites was the collaboration with
the Arcona Reel Band. I love the Christmas concerts and singing Silent Night around the audience with candlelight. And our recent collaborations with Maestro Malina and the Harrisburg Symphony have certainly been highlights. With forty years of memories it is hard to choose just one event as being most memorable.
– Judi Shepler
My most memorable event was singing Beethoven’s 9th
Symphony with the Harrisburg Symphony – David Tedford ...singing a concert with Robert Page conducting his
own arrangements of Valentine’s songs. – Amy Toney
...singing Persichetti’s Mass - my first taste of truly broadening “a cappella” singing; standing ovation at Philadelphia ACDA convention; Chautauqua; MANY other individual venues/events; Robert Page and the Harrisburg King David miracle; Silent Night circles; etc. – Don Vlazny
... singing in the Starwars Concert in 2010! It was a thrill getting to meet Anthony Daniels and to sing such epic music with a globally touring orchestra! – Amanda (Waddell) Tran
“My most memorable event, ironically, was before I even became a member. My wife and I saw a performance by the Susquehanna Chorale at a choral festival in Baltimore. The moment I heard the joyous strains of Fair Phyllis, I knew I had to join this group!” – Ty Walker
...singing with the chorale for the very first time which was a simple vowel warm up. The sound that was produced was so beautiful. I was shocked- it took my breath away. I couldn’t believe a warm up could sound so good! It was that moment that made me feel like I had found a group that I would be proud to represent and
be a part of as a musician. – Kate (Wilding) Ashman
