PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE (CONTINUED)
strong leadership will ensure that our police departments
continue to meet the needs of the communities
they serve.
We as police chiefs must also be cognizant of succession
plans. It is our job to mentor those with aspirations of
transitioning into a leadership role. I often tell my officers
that they have been interviewing for advancement the day
they commenced work at our agency. These prospective
future leaders must also be prepared to understand
generational differences and adjusting leadership
strategies. They will then be tasked with building a
cohesive, motivated, and high-performing team for the
always evolving policing plan for the future.
The path forward is not without its challenges, but with
a commitment to progress and a focus on leadership,
the future of policing in Pennsylvania can be one of
transparency, trust, and excellence in public service.
Sincerely,
IT IS OUR JOB TO MENTOR
THOSE WITH ASPIRATIONS
OF TRANSITIONING INTO A
LEADERSHIP ROLE.
